Mississauga Chinese Arts Festival 2009 at The Living Arts Centre and Adjacent Park
The 5th Mississauga Chinese Arts Festival will be held at The Living Arts Centre and the adjacent park on Sunday August 30th and Monday August 31st, 2009. These two days will be filled with both indoor and outdoor activities promoting Chinese arts and culture, including arts and crafts demonstrations, cooking demonstration and a special ping pong workshop with exhibition games.
"In addition, we would like to use this festival as a platform to encourage the younger generations to showcase their talents. There will be a Chinese chess tournament and talent show, and we have organized our first ever Singing Contest. The finals will be held on August 31st," stated the festival’s Co-Chair, Irene Tse.
Once again, we are very honoured to receive funding support from the Department of Canadian Heritage, through their "Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program". In addition to the support from the Federal Government, CPB is delighted to have the co-operation from the City of Mississauga’s My Mississauga program.
"CPB is fortunate to have dedicated directors, committee members and volunteers. CPB has also built up a solid reputation and good relationships with our community friends and partners, who have continued to support us at our events. These are all the factors that provide CPB with the opportunity to introduce the essence of Chinese culture in the spirit of multiculturalism," stated the festival’s Co-Chair, Amber Ing.
On August 30th, there will be an evening concert featuring the Toronto Chinese Orchestra, Don Choi, Benson Wong, Winona Xu and Sherry Xieng at the RBC Theatre. Tickets are $50 VIP, $30 and $15.
Admission for the festival is free, and there is plenty of free parking. There will be a lot of activities for the whole family, and we intend to have every participant go home with a memorable experience.
